Chris Nugent

Managing Director

Chris has over 20 years’ experience as an MD within the construction industry and has led and managed businesses of varying sizes. A graduate of Glasgow University in Business Management and Economics, Chris is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and has an MBA. Chris is a strong believer in developing and maintaining relationships in business through strong communication with staff and customers and the delivery of a top quality service.

James A Scott

Director

Jim joined the company in 1987 after three years in the insurance business. He was appointed a Director of Scotwood in 1993 and has always been actively involved in all aspects of the business. For twenty-five years, until 2024, Jim’s role was Joint MD with Doug Kerr, before he handed the MD reins to Chris Nugent. He continues in his role as Director and plays a lead role in sales and relationship management with clients. He is always on hand to ensure the smooth running of projects.

John Taylor

Director

John Taylor joined Scotwood in 1985 as a joiner and worked his way up through the ranks before becoming the Contracts Director. John oversees all Scotwood’s contracts across the UK and is in charge of a department which includes over 20 qualified tradesmen. John’s project management abilities ensure customer satisfaction and much repeat business

Andy Ashton

Contracts Manager

Andy joined Scotwood in 1997 as a time served joiner. Andy was recently promoted to Contracts Manager where he now has a large amount of contracts to manage on a day to day basis all over Scotland. His responsibilities are ensuring projects run smoothly to the clients’ time scales and to the agreed budget.

Craig Rodgers

Contracts Manager

Craig joined Scotwood in January 2013. He has brought his years of experience and knowledge to the company and is an integral part of the Contracts Team. Craig is responsible for looking after contracts from conception to handover, and he also assists in the surveying and pricing roles.

Graham Scott

Contracts Co-ordinator

Graham joined Scotwood in 1990, working originally as a driver before moving into buying as a trainee, which was the beginning of his long career in purchasing. He achieved Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply accreditation and progressed to the position of buyer and contracts co-ordinator. After a brief period away from Scotwood, he returned to the team in 2019.

Thomas Daffurn

Estimating Manager

Having completed his modern apprenticeship in joinery with a small family firm, Thomas joined Elmwood Projects Ltd in 2003 and worked his way up the ranks from joiner, site foreman and site manager, before being invited to move into estimating and commercial surveying with the firm. He thrived in this role and again travelled up the ranks from Trainee Estimator to Estimate and Bid Manager. Thomas joined Scotwood in 2024 attracted by the company’s high client and staff retention rates.

Laura Harley

Finance Manager

Laura Harley joined Scotwood as Finance Manager in 2024. She has more than 20 years of experience in accounts, much of it gained in the fit-out and refurbishment sector. In her previous role, she progressed from office administrator to accounts manager and manages all aspects of accounts in her role in the Scotwood team.

Sub Contractors

Our highly skilled and multi-trade workforce enjoy close working relationships with carefully selected sub contractors, unless nominated by the client. We provide repeat business for a select number of specialist contractors that we use on a continuing basis and they must comply with our stringent Health & Safety requirements.

Our high standards are well known to them because we have been working with the majority of our contractors for between 10 and 20 years.
